Do You Feel Like Your Doctor Is Telling You The Truth? Portland, Maine

The Truth Will Guide You   Truth in healthcare, believe it or not, is lacking. Profits and the lies about what true health is that support big business, are so saturating our minds that for many people, it’s hard to know reality.   I always tell my patients “Absence of knowledge of the law doesn’t get you off if you kill someone or get caught stealing, and not understanding your body and health doesn’t absolve you from the responsibility of taking care of yourself. You’ll still pay the price.”    We have nothing to lose and as a result, you get straight answers about serious issues. We sugarcoat nothing. This is nothing to be afraid of, in fact, it’s something to embrace. With knowledge comes the power to be in the drivers seat when it comes to the health of your family. If you’ve ever felt like your doctor doesn’t listen, doesn’t “get” you, doesn’t care, pushes medications and interventions, or is listening to you and preparing their response rather than HEARING you, it’s time you wake up to other options.   Health comes from within you. Your body is the greatest healer. Every drug that is in the pharmacy...

The Local Bone Setter – Portland, Maine

September 20, 2016

The Local Bonesetter Is A Call Away. Portland, Maine.   What’s the difference between a bonesetter and a chiropractor? A bonesetter is someone who was taught to manipulate joints by someone who has manipulated joints in the past, like a former bone setter. Bone setters have no formal training in anatomy, physiology, diagnosis or specific treatment. Bone setters have no formal education, no license, no insurance and no guarantee that they’ve met the standards of a profession. Bonesetters were originally used to set fractures or dislocations.     To become a Doctor of Chiropractic one must attend an accredited 4400+ hour graduate program after college. They are taught all of the medical sciences taught in medical school but for surgery. Chiropractors even study pharmacology despite not prescribing medications. It is important to understand changes in body chemistry and how that relates to the nervous system and spine. Chiropractors must pass 4 national board exams as well as state exams. Chiropractors are licensed in all 50 states and most developed countries around the world. Chiropractors identify Subluxation. Subluxation is a misalignment of the spine creating nerve pressure, altered function and reduced health.   While there is no local bonesetter in Portland, Maine,...

121 Years Of Human Trials – Chiropractic Works !

September 18, 2016

121 Years Of Human Trials – Chiropractic Works !   121 years ago, in the office of D.D. Palmer, chiropractic was discovered. For 121 years, chiropractic has safely and effectively served millions of families, individuals, athletes and rock stars. Chiropractic works!   Things that don’t work, don’t last. Were chiropractic ineffective, it would not be here today. Despite the efforts of the American Medical Association to destroy chiropractic and to later be found guilty in the supreme court of illegal activity, chiropractic is still with us. Despite the folks who speak of fabricated shortcomings, chiropractic works, and it is still with us.   Today, September 18, is the 121st birthday of chiropractic. If you know someone who wants to study to become a doctor of chiropractic, send them to Sherman College of Chiropractic.   Chiropractic is safe, effective, affordable and health promoting. Chiropractic works. 121 years of human trials with great outcomes should not be ignored. If you are looking for an alternative to dangerous drugs and surgeries, it’s high time you call Dr. Lou at (207) 774-6251....

Chiropractor With No Initial Exam Required – Portland, Maine

September 13, 2016

Chiropractor With No Initial Exam Required. Chiropractor – Portland, Maine   People often call chiropractic offices just wanting to get cracked. They don’t want an initial exam, regardless of cost, the want a tweak and to be on their way. I can understand the need for instant gratification, our culture has come to expect it.   A couple of months ago my wife took our car into the shop and had it checked out and some regular maintenance done. When I spoke with her and the service manager he said there was some work to be done.   This is what I did not say: “There’s work to be done? Okay, do it!”   Here is what I did say: “There’s work to be done? Okay, what’s wrong with the car and what needs to be done immediately to keep us safe, how much will it cost and how long will it take?”   Jacobs Chiropractic Acupuncture receives calls from new patients daily. Most of them are interested in knowing what is wrong with them before they begin treatment. Like me, they want to know “what’s wrong with their car” before they spend time, money and energy trying to fix it....

Perinatal or Prenatal Yoga In Portland, Maine Perinatal yoga encompasses yoga before during and after pregnancy. Sometimes people call this prenatal yoga. The majority of the common factors involved in a difficult pregnancy, labor and delivery are structural. My chiropractor has an assembly line office!

September 7, 2016

Your Chiropractor has an assembly line office and you don’t like it?   The fact of the matter is, many people love the speed of the office with a chiropractor who adjusts you and sends you on your way in 3 minutes or less. In fact, as a chiropractor and person who values my time, I love this type of office. In and out in a flash. I get the adjustment I need and no time is wasted on stuff that the chiropractor doesn’t deal with anyway.   That said, we all need to be heard. Especially when it comes to our health, emotions and future. Nobody wants to feel like they are being pushed through for the convenience of the doctor and staff. The bottom line is that if you don’t like the speed at which your chiropractor works, tell them. If they don’t listen, or can’t explain to you why the office works the way it does, go somewhere else. Chiropractic is no different than any other healthcare specialty, if you aren’t happy with the doc, leave.     As a chiropractor in Portland, Maine, I have struggled with finding the best balance. This is the message...

Perinatal Yoga At Perinatal & Pediatric Chiropractic of Maine – (207) 553-7776 – Portland, Maine

August 10, 2016

Perinatal Yoga With a Twist at Perinatal & Pediatric Chiropractic of Maine           Prenatal Yoga   Pregnancy is one of the three periods in a woman’s life where she experiences major hormonal shifts (menarche, pregnancy and menopause). These are times of enormous change; the body’s chemistry takes over and forces a woman to make physical, emotional and mental readjustments. One of the most important physical adjustments during pregnancy is to tone the muscles; the pelvic floor muscles. Prenatal yoga helps you stay in shape during pregnancy, strengthens your muscles, and improves balance and circulation. In addition, breathing exercises and relaxation will help you connect with your growing baby and prepare you physically and mentally for labor and motherhood.   At Perinatal & Pediatric Chiropractic of Maine we offer small classes for each trimester, focusing on your needs at specific stages of the pregnancy. This calculated timing also encourages you to meet other pregnant women and be part of a community in a safe, positive and supportive environment. By purchasing a 10 week session you will receive an optional perinatal chiropractic examination with Dr Jacobs. At your request, Chantal will work closely with Dr Jacobs to put in place the...
