Chiropractor With No Initial Exam Required.

People often call chiropractic offices just wanting to get cracked. They don’t want an initial exam, regardless of cost, the want a tweak and to be on their way. I can understand the need for instant gratification, our culture has come to expect it.

 

A couple of months ago my wife took our car into the shop and had it checked out and some regular maintenance done. When I spoke with her and the service manager he said there was some work to be done.

 

This is what I did not say: “There’s work to be done? Okay, do it!”

 

Here is what I did say: “There’s work to be done? Okay, what’s wrong with the car and what needs to be done immediately to keep us safe, how much will it cost and how long will it take?”

 

Jacobs Chiropractic Acupuncture receives calls from new patients daily. Most of them are interested in knowing what is wrong with them before they begin treatment. Like me, they want to know “what’s wrong with their car” before they spend time, money and energy trying to fix it. If you want to get cracked without an exam, some recommend leaning over the side of your couch and rolling around until something pops. This is not chiropractic and I don’t suggest you do this. Lucky for you, chiropractors are highly trained to identify and correct vertebral subluxation that compresses nerves and leads to poor function, healing and control of your body – including your back. It is not something to jump in to without an exam.

 

No doctor of any kind, who is of sound mind, will treat a patient without first identifying the problem. You wouldn’t even order a salad without knowing what is in it, how could you consider an important procedure that impacts your health without knowing what’s wrong? Whether it is acupuncture, massage, chiropractic or brain surgery, these modalities affect your body chemistry, your physical structure and your future.

 

A promise to you. We will never perform any service intended to help you without first knowing why we are doing it. We will never ask you to pay for something that you do not understand. We will never ask you to blindly trust any provider in our office without an explanation of why, what, how much and how long.

 

Doctors of chiropractic rely on history taking and discussion with the patient, objective diagnostic tests, physical examination and a host of medical industry standards to help us make good decisions that will benefit you most with the least amount of risk in the shortest period of time.
