What’s the real value of good crack?

How do you put a dollar value on good crack?  Have you ever received a diagnosis on your car that seemed really bad, only to find out that the fix is a .35 cent rubber ring?  As a chiropractor with a great deal of respect for the profession, our education and the lengths we go to to help people, I also don’t get caught up on semantics. Crack, pop, snap-crackle-pop, rack & crack, I don’t really care what you call what I do, as long as you get well and get well soon.  Incidentally, “adjustment” is the proper term for a chiropractic manipulation.  I don’t really care if you ask how many chiropractors it takes to change a light bulb and then answer your question with “one, but it will take 20 visits”.  All the jokes, the misnomers and the puns used for describing the adjustments that our profession has fought so hard to change, don’t upset me if you understand what we really do. What’s the value of good crack?  We recently had a mother bring her 20 month old child into the office.  The toddler has had ear infections for 16 of her 20 months on earth. ...

That’s right, if you don’t understand what really happens at a chiropractic office, your life could be in danger.  Extreme? Not at all.  Look at the facts. – 1.9 million Americans are addicted to pain medications. – Every 19 minutes an American dies because of misuse of a prescription medication. Remember Heath Ledger? – Prescription drugs kill more people each year than cocaine, heroine and a handful of other illegal drugs combined. – Hospital acquired infections kill as many as 98,000 americans a year. – One study done by the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) database for the years 2005 to 2008 showed that  10 of every 3745 spinal stenosis surgery patients dies. – Rates of death from pain killers after spinal surgery are high as well. What you don’t know about chiropractic could kill you.  Chiropractic is safe.  Statistically safer than driving to the grocery store.  Chiropractic works. If it didn’t work, the 117 year old profession would not have millions of loyal patients who spend billions of dollars a year on our services.  117 years ago, medical doctors were cutting hair and performing bloodletting.  Chiropractors were doing exactly what they are doing today, adjusting...

The word “chiropractic” comes from the greek words that mean “done by hand”.  There is no “s” on the end of chiropractic. Chiropractors use their hands as well as newer technology to identify areas of the body that contribute to poor nerve function which often results in Pain. Chiropractic has become the choice for many families as their primary form of non-medicated, non surgical healthcare and wellness plan. The following list highlights some facts about chiropractic: Safety: Chiropractic is extremely safe.  Most chiropractors pay less than $2,000 per year in malpractice insurance Soft: Chiropractic treatments are soft & gentle Specific: Chiropractic treatments are targeted at specific areas to get you the best results in the shortest period of time.  It’s not just random knuckle popping. Super Stars: Tiger Woods, Madonna, Tom Brady, Trey Anastasio, Eli Manning, Mel Gibson and a host of other athletes, musicians and actors use chiropractic to remain as healthy and pain free as possible.  It keeps them in business. Save: Save money.  Chiropractic saves money.  It is a cost effective way to fix problems and stay problem free.  Most insurance companies cover care making the out of pocket expense very affordable.  If you don’t have...

Accidents happen. Valentines day is right around the corner and a common expectation within relationships is a romantic night under the sheets. I’ve worked the day after valentines day for years. Each year at least one person will come to the office with what they see as an embarrassing story about how they injured their back, hip, shoulder, neck or other body part. It’s easy to forget that sex can be like a sport and it is important to show up prepared. If you are out of shape or have “been without” for a while, below are five helpful tips on how to prepare for a big night. 1. Stretch. Prepare in the days before, even minutes before, while your partner is in the bathroom. Quickly and carefully warm up your low back by stretching. 2. Build a strong core. Over the span of as little as 5-7 days you can increase the strength of your abdominal muscles. Strong abs help take some of the work away from the muscles of the low back. Dividing up the responsibility of muscle groups may prevent an unwanted flare up or spasm when it is least convenient. 3. Get Warm. Cold bedrooms,...
